Yes, okay, still alive but not currently working on the game

It's agonizing for me to say it but I just haven't had the time to work on the game.

Working full time is great for the bank account but tragic for my free time.

I'm very happy to say though that I think about the game every day on my commute home, today especially I was thinking "There are these people that are really interested in the game you're making, you shouldn't keep letting them down by NOT working on the game when you get home."

So I understand your pain, I've been on that side of the fence before (watching Slavemaker development!) where there's all this awesome game that's being made but it's just taking soooo long.

Know that I still care, and I'll see what I can do to pull together some extra time in my day to do game work, even a little.

(bonus news: I'm moving closer to the city soon so I get an extra hour and a half a day of free time.  that should be good time to work on game!)

Again sorry I haven't been getting more game made, but when it is eventually complete I'm sure you guys will think it was worth the wait.  Although that's a terrible thing to have to say. so... ah... 'when it's ready' D:

  7. Best not to rush, as that can lead to mistakes. And when mistakes are made, Everyone gets sad. >: But still, it's good to hear from you. :3

  8. Life comes first man, do your job and anything else that needs to be done before thinking about the game.
That being said i am looking forward to it being finished. =)

  9. Hour and a half commute? I feel ya. Great to know that you're still alive *cough* linemarvel *cough cough* and I hope you can finish the game soon (though I'm not sure if your reading this comment is counterproductive due to it taking away from your time or productive in the sense that it adds to your motivation)

  10. It adds to motivation, believe me.

  11. Hey man! Love the game! Succubi are my favorite mythical creature, and any game that involves succubi is, in my book, awesome!

I'm an aspiring game designer myself, trying to make a TG succubus game, but so far, all I've got is sprites from the little custom sprite maker site. And to top it off, I don't have any good sex sprites. Got any suggestions?

    ReplyDelete
  12. I'm using the set that was in the game Ring of Lust and modding them as I need to.

I edit the sprites and make new ones with GraphicsGale free edition which is a damn excellent sprite editor/creator. I mean, you have to do each pixel yourself but it's the best device to do so with.

What are you trying to make your game with? Ruby or C++ or RPG maker like I am doing?

It's not easy to do, so I would be happy to offer some advice.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Thanks! I'll download GraphicsGale free edition asap, and I'll see if I can find the sheet from Ring of Lust. I'm using RPGmaker VX to make my game, and I would definitely welcome any advice you could give me. :)

  14. Ring of Lust is a chinese RPG maker... 2003 or XP game. I haven't played it because I've got no idea how to read chinese, but from what I understand it's an excellent game.

It has a massive sprite sheet collection, like, hundreds.

I'm not totally thrilled about RPG Maker VX in general, not that there's anything wrong with it by any stretch. The only really bad thing is just that I prefer the rpg maker xp default sprite set and it was easier to get everything working with the default sprites by using rpg maker xp.

There's a lot of information out there for scripting and so on for rpg maker 03,xp,vx, etc, so you should have no problem finding that stuff.

  15. You're alive? Awesome. Really like the game. Can't say too much more then that because I just love to complain, and delays are good targets for that, even though I know the game will be worth the wait.

  17. Ah, okay, I've got it. RPGmaker VX sprite sheets are 3x4, and Ring of Lust sprite sheets are 4x4. Hmmm...

    ReplyDelete
  18. Ah right, I forgot about that. Another reason I was not thrilled by VX. Ahm... there are some utilities and guides to converting XP sprite sets to VX, check some forums.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Thanks! I downloaded one of the converters, and they're working great! I wish I knew how to make animations, though.

    ReplyDelete
  20. In RPG Maker XP and VX an animation is basically a series of still shots, very much like a character sprite.

The RPG Maker program has a built in utility to select and place one of the stills from an animation sheet with certain timing and delays. You can add multiple different stills to a single animation to make it however you like, while adding sound effects and so on. Check out some tutorials for making custom animations, it's actually one of the easier parts of RPG Maker.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Is that how you made the sex animations?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hey Michus how are things going with real world will you be able to start coding again soon or is your work too hectic

    ReplyDelete
  23. @Optia

Yes, pretty much anything that movies in RPG Maker-type games is a series of still-shots, any sprite animation is basically just a .gif with anywhere between 4 to hundreds of frames. Most are 4-12. Once you get past 12 or so it gets really smooth but of course it's a lot of work.

    @jandre0202

I have been working on the game this weekend actually :)

  24. There is only one way to play? Evil?
    Nice game.
    Sorry my english

  26. Good to know that you're still around!
I love CoA, but it's probably for the best that you deal with your personal life first.

But could you also post on Futanari Palace on occasion to let us know there that you're still among the living? (I mostly ask because I check FP for updates more often.) ;)

  30. Wait Legend II will be released in November?
Awesome! I hope it comes out before Skyrim though, that way I can give it the attention it deserves

  31. @Michus
So, if I use a .gif I'll be able to make animations that are longer than three frames?

I learned how to make little animations by just clicking a few check boxes, but maybe if I used a .gif it would be easier?

    ReplyDelete
  32. You don't need to use a gif, I don't know if rpg maker can use a gif like that.

You can make an animation as long as you want, even if it's only two frames. If you're asking if you can use an animation sheet with more than 3 or 4 images then yes, you can. An image sheet can have 20+ or more individual sprites on it, what matters is how you tell rpg maker to use them.

Let's be clear on a few things, making a sprite sheet for character movement is different than using a sprite sheet to make an animation effect (like the KAPOW-style impact blast when a special attack hits) they are used differently but both are composed of single images on a sprite sheet. Take a look at examples online of a 'sprite sheet' to see how they can be used.

The default that RPG Maker uses is a 4x4 sprite sheet, one for each direction a character can face (up,down, left, right) and four states for each direction to represent movement. You would have a 'standing' sprite, a 'stepping' sprite, another standing sprite and then a sprite stepping with the opposite foot (usually reversed of the other stepping sprite unless your character is asymmetrical)

You could have more than a 4x4 sprite sheet and this would result in smoother character movements however it is also much more work as you have to make each sprite by hand.

I don't know if the default 4x4-for-movement can be changed, you might have to code an exception into the ruby gamecode underneath... so I wouldn't recommend it for a beginner.

Animation effects are different, you don't need to have 'sequential' sprites on the sheet, as in, they don't all have to move 1-2-3-4-5-6, you can have many different kinds of sprites on an effect sheet and pick and choose them to add to an effect using the built-in effect builder that comes with RPG Maker. Simply add effects, control for timing and position of each effect and off you go. Check a tutorial.

  33. are you going to release an update soon or only after you finished the whole game?

The game is the real deal thanks.

there arent many games where you play as a demon/ess

    ReplyDelete
  34. I figured out how to do it. All I needed was a script. Thanks!

Now what to do my story about...

    ReplyDelete
  35. First off, please excuse that I'm posting as anonymous. I don't have an account and I don't plan on getting one.

I'm sorry to be nagging you, but do you have any plans to see this project through at this point? I've been ecstatic about your game since you first told the world about it, faithfully waiting and believing in you, but this faith is slowly ebbing out and I and a lot of others are very interested in an update about its status. I understand that you've been busy with real life and its various challenges, and I agree that it takes first priority, but a little information coming our way would still be nice. Just to let us know if we should still keep our hopes high and check your blog regularily, or move on and find other projects to look forward to.

    Yours truly,
    A big fan

  39. BUG!
After you capture your father and enter the throne room, talking to him will cause the imp to move. If you continue this, and the imp walks into a wall/off the edge, the game will freeze. You will be unable to do anything.

Also there is another bug when leaving the main town, where your mansion is, to the first house. If you leave the town from above, it will not trigger the map change animation, and just abruptly load the new map instantly.
